ABOUT US
OUR MISSION
Walt's Mobile Closet is a nonprofit that partners with organizations along the SouthCoast to provide free clothing to anyone in need.
WHO IS WALT?
Walt’s Mobile Closet is named in memory of Whitney's Dad, Walter. Walt loved beautiful clothing and always looked his best even when he was working in his very large garden or on his beloved Corvette.
"I could think of no one better to honor in this mission of kindness we do." - Whitney
Meet Our Founder
Whitney Tully, Founder & Executive Director
In May, 2024, Upworthy partnered with P&G to celebrate individuals who are giving back and strengthening their communities through the 2024 Acts of Good Awards.
Folks were encouraged to nominate individuals who were going above and beyond to help their community, be it superstar volunteers or inspiring neighborhood leaders, for a chance to receive a $1,000 donation to a non-profit organization of their choice, and for Upworthy to highlight their good work across our channels.
Walt's Mobile Closet was one of three winners!
"Whitney Tully has created an innovative approach to help people in need access high-quality gently used clothing at no cost. Inspired by her father's love for fine apparel, she named the organization Walt's Mobile Closet. Whitney sets up pop-up clothing shops at various sites like food pantries, homeless shelters, and churches, identifying and meeting needs wherever they arise. These shops offer a wide range of clothing, shoes, and even accessories. Beyond clothing, Whitney responds to requests from community partners to aid the unhoused, recently incarcerated individuals, and victims of domestic abuse, among others."
